Enjoying the silence of our winter silent retreat 2019

Winter Silent Retreat: During the hubbub of the holiday season, we like to take a break and spend a Sunday in silent retreat. We meet for regular worship in the morning, those not doing the retreat leave quietly at the end of worship, and everyone else spends the next 5-ish hours in silence - reading, knitting, meditating, napping, or walking in silence. People enjoy a potluck lunch whenever they're ready and at the end of the day we gather to spend some time in worship-sharing about our experience during the day.

Working the cider press at Sunnyfield Farm, October 2023

Apple Pressing: Every fall we do a cider pressing, collecting apples from around the island in advance, piling them in boxes in the basement of Sunnyfield Farm, and finally gathering together on a Sunday after worship to wash, cut and press apples, then bottle the resulting cider, while taking breaks to enjoy a potluck lunch. Jugs of cider are set aside for delivery to those who, for various reasons, are not able to join in the fun.
